HMO – Health Maintenance Organization

HMOs are very popular Medicare Advantage plans, typically due to their lower cost. With an HMO there is a network you must stick to, unless in an emergency.

You also must choose a primary care physician with an HMO, and they will give you a referral which is needed if you wish to see a specialist.

These plans usually have low monthly premiums. You can compare HMOs using our website today!

PPOs – Preferred Provider Organization

PPOs are also very popular Medicare Advantage plans, as they give you the flexibility of visiting doctors in-network or outside of your network. All doctors must be Medicare-approved.

Many PPOs offer plans with prescription drug coverage included, and some companies now even offer PPO plans with low monthly premiums.

We can help you compare PPOs in your area and check which plans your doctors accept, to make sure you get the right plan to fit your needs.

SNPs – Special Needs Plans

SNPs are offered for those who have certain medical conditions and qualify.

Some of the conditions required to qualify are:

  • Certain autoimmune disorders
  • Alcohol dependence
  • End-stage Renal Disease (ESRD) that requires dialysis
  • HIV/Aids
  • Many more, please call us to see if you qualify 1-877-517-4661

PFFS – Private Fee-for-Service Plans

PFFS plans are offered by various private insurance companies that contract with networks of providers who must agree to the terms of the plan.

If you visit a provider or a facility that is outside the network, you may have to pay for services out-of-pocket yourself, or they may be increased.

Not all PFFS plans include prescription drug coverage. If you do enroll in a PFFS plan that does not, you may enroll in a separate Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.

Comparing Medicare Advantage Plans

When it comes to choosing the right Medicare Advantage plan to fit your needs, there are a few very important things to consider:

  • Do your doctors and providers accept the plan? We can help you see if they do.
  • You should compare each plan’s benefits and the maximum out-of-pocket costs. Plans typically have a monthly premium (though sometimes low), and all plans do have a maximum out-of-pocket. This could be as high as $8300 in 2023.
  • Star Ratings – It’s good to check the star ratings of each plan that is rated by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS). We show you the star ratings of each when you enter your zip code to begin comparing plans on our website
